Change from within.

In our media saturated culture we have never had more access to books, podcasts, blogs, classes, and weekend seminars on how to improve our marriages. Yet there doesn't seem to be any discernible affect on divorce rates. Why are we missing the mark? Are we addressing the right issues? Or are we trying to in Jesus's words “clean the outside of the cup” rather than examine all that is going on in our souls? The heart and soul class is aimed at doing just that. We can be and usually are unaware of so much going on in our souls that effect our current relationships on a daily basis. Becoming aware of urges, memories, fears, and insecurities can and in many cases does help to eliminate much of the conflict in relationships that keep us cycling in patterns that rob us of the intimacy we desire. Behavior modification isn't all bad but unfortunately changed behavior that doesn't flow from a transformed heart last about as long as most of our New Year's resolutions. A transformed heart, a healed heart is what we are after. Heal the heart and the behavior will take care of itself.

Paul.
